Enjoyed my stay here at Varley House. Loved my room which had amazing views of the sea and landscape. My Breakfast was nice and enjoyed my pot of tea! Rod and Helen made me feel very welcome and so friendly. I even had a gold chocolate coin on my pillow. Yum yum! Look forward to my next stay at Varley House. Thankyou again xx

My second stay at Varley House. It's superbly situated for a trip on from the harbour to Lundy! Rod is a fabulous host, doing anything he can to meet your needs. The rooms are comfortable and spotlessly clean. The breakfasts are excellent. I'll definitely be staying again.

Our experience was very good. We arrived to a friendly welcome by the owners who gave us a quick tour of the house and then showed us to our room. The room was very clean and tidy with views of the sea, overall the rooms are of a high standard. The breakfast was well cooked and consistent. Overall our stay was very pleasant would highly recommend.

We had a lovely 3 night stay at Varley House. Rod and Helen were super welcoming and friendly. The room was clean and comfortable. We really enjoyed the continental breakfast and fresh fruit salad, followed by a lovely freshly cooked breakfast. We will definitely stay again.
We stayed at Varley House in the first week of June. We were given an upstairs room that looked out towards views at the back. The room was airy, bright, clean, quiet and spacious with a welcoming coffee station and a chair. The bathroom had a walk in shower which was newly renovated. We were invited to park on the drive (being a one night stay). We wished we could have had more time in Ilfracombe but we were just passing through. The breakfast was freshly cooked and plentiful. Our host Rod, was very welcoming and friendly and was incredibly knowledgeable about South African history. We (being South African's now living in Dorset), marveled at his explanation of how Varley House got it's name. Rod also has a fascinating collection of old books and novels. We will definitely stay again at Ilfracombe and Varley House will be our first choice.
Spent a night here with friends before going to Lundy. Rod the owner could not have been more helpful and friendly. Comfy bed, well equipped room and sensible safety precautions. And Covid permitting great little snug bar, handy with pubs shutting at 10pm! We even got great breakfast bags to take with us as we had a very early start. Thanks Rod hope to return.
